Glam villa living waits behind every supersized wooden door here, but we’re queuing up to stay at Villa Solah, where a generously sized shared pool and lounge area unites two expansive wings. There’s an inviting corner infinity pool in the main area and a soothing master bedroom with an ocean-backdropped, open-air bath tub. But keep climbing for this hill villa’s high point: the additional top-of-the-world pool and terrace, where glorious views await.

There’s no spa, but there are two treatment rooms, or you can request an in-villa massage.

Children

Welcome. Extra beds can be added to some villas for IDR1,500,000 a night, including breakfast. You can book a nanny service in advance for an additional charge. Children can also join in on the activities at the sport centre.

Chef Santi runs the rustic Tampah Hills Beach Restaurant, constructed from sustainable local materials and offering al fresco light meals by the sands.

Hotel Bar

At the restaurant’s Tampah Hills bar, you can grab light meals and drinks crafted with local tropical flavours (don’t miss the flavoursome Pineapple Basil Martini).

Room Service

You can hire your own private chef to cater for you throughout your stay, or meals can be delivered to your villa (between 7am and 10pm) from a separate menu. You can have breakfast delivered to you free of charge (à la carte options cost extra).

Planes

Lombok International Airport is a 45-minute drive away, and has direct connections from Bali, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. You can book transfers through the hotel, with prices starting at IDR900,000 for up to four guests, and from IDR1,500,000 for up to 10 guests.

Automobiles

Lombok is fairly spread out, so if you’re planning on exploring further afield you might want to pick up a set of wheels from one of the island’s many rental spots. Each villa has its own private car park.

Worth Getting Out of Bed For

Tampah Hills has plenty of natural wonders on its grounds to explore, from tropical gardens to the kitchen farm. You can also book a personal-training session, yoga class or surfing lesson. Staff can help organise a range of excursions, including climbing the steep trails of Mount Rinjani National Park, diving at Tanjung Ringgit, a waterfall trek, or an action-packed day of snorkelling, fishing or paragliding. Get in the kitchen to hone your Indonesian culinary skills on a cookery course.
