Hotel Willa
Crafted with character
History-dosed Downtown
Hotel Willa is a hacienda rooted in heritage, with adobe-hued walls that tell the tale of Taos through its local talent. Spaces are adorned with artisanal works from the state’s creatives, and its palettes echo your striking New Mexican surroundings. But visuals aren’t all that give this boutique hotel its sense of place: the cosseting restaurant puts provenance at its core, while rooms watch over the on-site organic gardens, poolside and embracing Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Hotel Restaurant
Everything at Restaurante Juliette is rooted in family: its name nods to head chef Johnny Ortiz-Concha’s late mother; enticing, fire-warmed interiors were lovingly designed by his wife, and his menu’s seasonal produce comes courtesy of New Mexico’s generational farms and the hotel’s own organic gardens. Expect dishes to wade with the weather, but with the state’s storied green chili cheeseburger as your year-round regular, classic American comfort fare is a guarantee.
Hotel Bar
Juliette’s Bar is an extension of the restaurant, in both feel and flavor. Cocktails focus on the state’s South American influences, with mezcal-laced margaritas and corn-infused old fashioneds filling drinks’ menus. Come morning, the Espresso Bar brews fresh blends with tasty twists (like sprinkles of sea salt or a spoonful of honey), as well as matcha and an assortment of teas.
Last Orders
Breakfast is served from 7am to 11am; lunch is noon to 3pm, and dinner is dished between 5pm and 10pm. The Espresso Bar is open 7pm to 11pm, and Juliette’s Bar pours till midnight.
Room Service
You’re welcome to order plates from your in-room menu between 5pm and 10pm.
Planes
Your nearest international airport is in Albuquerque, a little over two hours from the hotel by car; private transfers can be arranged for $280 each way. If you’re arriving from within the States, it’s quicker to fly straight into Taos Regional Airport, which is a closer 15-minute drive and $30 for one-way transfers. Staff can also arrange collections from Santa Fe for between $100 and $150 each way — an alternative option for domestic flights and around 90 minutes away by car.
Automobiles
Taos’ central Paseo del Pueblo is walkable if you’re sticking to its borders, but for those looking to explore New Mexico’s beyond-the-town landscapes, a car will come in handy. There’s free round-the-clock parking at the hotel, including chargers for electric vehicles.
Worth Getting Out of Bed For
Hotel Willa is your introduction to Taos’ thriving art scene, and with a host of galleries within walking distance, your insight is only set to grow. The Harwood Museum makes for an adoring starting point, where over 100 artist-made tapestries depict the town’s creative history. MoMo and Lun + Ojo showcase everything from contemporary paintings and prints to home decor and textiles; and The Valley Taos hosts lesser-known, local talent in its centuries-old space. Set in the Taos Society of Artists’ original base, the Couse-Sharp Historic Site takes you back to the start with studios and workshops to tour, interiors to admire and an extensive archive of original sketches, photos and exhibitions.
Along with its creative clout, Taos also has some serious sustainability cred to tout: the 300-acre Earthships are a collection of completely off-grid homes built by local architect Michael Reynolds in 1969. Taos Valley draws skiers for its snow-capped peaks come winter, but it’s also one of the few resorts to be B Corp certified.
Guided tours around Taos Pueblo are best done with a local, who will teach you all about its Native American community, sacred land and talented artisans. On Saturday mornings, residents rally for the Farmer’s Market, where sweet wafts of New Mexican-made honey and lavender balm scent the streets.
