Peak-framed plains
Reconnect with your wild side at Under Canvas North Yellowstone – Paradise Valley, an upscale outdoorsy retreat near the national park’s north entrance. Worth Getting Out of Bed For
Each week, a roster of activities runs at the camp, from sunrise yoga to scavenger hunts, arts and crafts and stargazing sessions. With the Yellowstone River steps from the lobby tent, you can join an expert for a fly fishing excursion without leaving camp; board a dory boat for a river float through awe-prompting Paradise Valley scenery; and enjoy wild swimming or wading in the refreshing waters that weave through the valley.
But with spectacular wilderness all around you and Yellowstone’s north entrance nearby, you’ll soon be tempted onto the trails. There are plenty of Yellowstone highlights within easy daytripping distance – Mammoth Hot Springs are around an hour’s drive away, and it’s two hours to Lamar Valley, nicknamed America’s Serengeti for the huge number of bears, bison, pronghorns and other big critters that call it home. Under Canvas’ adventure concierge can arrange all sorts of guided adventures into the national park and wider region. Sign up for a naturalist-led hike or wildlife-watching tour through the area’s untamed landscape. Join a kayak trip for a set-your-own-pace paddle past soaring views of Mount Sepulcher and Electric Peak, or ramp up the adrenalin with whitewater rafting. And when in the Wild West, a wrangler-led horseback ride through Montana’s National Forests seems only fitting.
