Museums, Zoos and Gardens

San Antonio Zoo

The 56-acre, non-profit San Antonio Zoological Society is home to over 9,000 animals, representing 750 species. Don’t miss their interactive exhibits, and make sure to hop aboard the San Antonio Zoo Eagle for a train ride through Brackenridge Park.

San Antonio Museum of Art

Witte Museum

McNay Museum

Opening as the first modern art museum in Texas in 1954, it was converted from a Spanish-style mansion. The McNay features an astounding collection of 19th and 20th century European and American works of art, and the collection today consists of over 14,000 objects.

River Walk

The Alamo

The San Antonio Missions

The four southernmost Spanish colonial missions—Concepción, San José, San Juan and Espada—are included in the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. The missions are walled compounds encompassing a church and buildings where the priests and local Native Americans lived and worked.

Tower of the Americas

View the city from 750 feet in the air! This tower, originally built for the 1968 World’s Fair, takes visitors up a glass elevator for a bird’s eye look at downtown San Antonio. Attractions of the Tower include a revolving restaurant, stationary bar, observation deck and a 4D adventure ride.

Government Canyon State Natural Area

Government Canyon State Natural Area preserves 12,047 acres of rugged hills and canyons in the Texas Hill Country. It is open to the public Friday–Monday and offers 40 miles of hiking and biking trails, picnic sites, guided tours and ranger programs.

Enchanted Rock State Natural Area

Enchanted Rock State Natural Park in Fredericksburg, Texas, is well worth the drive for the breathtaking Hill Country views. The massive pink granite dome rising above Central Texas has drawn people for thousands of years, but there is more at Enchanted Rock than just the dome.

Natural Bridge Caverns

Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch

The Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch features more than 500 animals representing over 40 species, but does not have any predators or elephants. Visitors can drive through the property where animals roam freely. Some of the animals you can expect to encounter include zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, buffalo, ostrich, elk and more.
