It is after Somoni that the currency of this country is named. The statue of Somoni is singularly magnificent, and the crown of Somoni itself weighs around ten kilograms and is made of Tajik gold.
Victory Park is a well-known sight in the city. You can climb up to the summit of this garden and take in the panoramic view of this city. The park itself is a themed beer garden, where you can take an adventurous and exciting trip on shaky gondolas. Turn westwards off Rudaki at the TSUM, and you will pass by the beer factory. You can also visit this factory if you want.
The 13th century Hisor Fortress in Dushanbe is set 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) away from the town, where you will find a madrassa of religious schools. This fortress was ruined by Soviet troops while they were looking for Enver Pasha. Please note that you have to pay a small entry fee to visit this fortress.
Museum of Antiquities
Visitors can also view the popular Museum of Antiquities. This museum is set on the main square and has an interesting structure. You will find several displays in the Museum of Antiquities, which provide information about Dushanbe's history.
