More than 715,000 ​Condé Nast Traveler​ readers submitted an incredible number of responses rating their travel experiences across the globe.

Resort Recognized for its World Class Cleaning Procedures Protecting Against COVID-19

 

Cambridge, Md. (October 2, 2020) – Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina, a waterfront resort located on 342 acres of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, announces it has received the Global Biorisk Advisory Council’s (GBAC) STAR™ Facility Accreditation. The accreditation is reserved for facilities that demonstrate the superior ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from biorisk and infectious disease situations.

“We are proud to announce we are among the first hotels across the globe to receive this prestigious accreditation from the Global Biorisk and Advisory Council,” said Joel Bunde, General Manager at Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina. “The program not only helps organizations better understand the necessary protocols and tools for cleaning and disinfecting their facilities, but it helps them remain accountable for these processes so they can provide the safest environments possible. The GBAC STAR™ Facility Accreditation recognizes organizations that showcase a commitment to transforming the cleaning industry into an essential part of their business, and those that ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment for employees, customers, and stakeholders. The accreditation illustrates the resort’s priority and commitment to infectious disease prevention and to minimize risks associated with infectious agents like COVID-19.

In addition to receiving the GBAC STAR™ Facility Accreditation, the resort has updated its safety and health procedures which include an increase in the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting with CDC approved disinfecting products, social distancing and mask policies, updated employee practices, and the addition of an on-site hygiene and wellbeing manager responsible for ensuring that all safety protocols are being met.

Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort Spa and Marina Recognized For Efforts In Community Service
January 10th, 2020

January 10, 2020– Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina, a waterfront resort located on Chesapeake Bay’s Eastern Shore, has been awarded the Maryland Lodging Association award for Community Service and Sales Professional of the Year, which recognizes local hotels and resorts and their employees.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by the Maryland Hotel Lodging Association for our community service and sales efforts,” said Joel Bunde, General Manager at Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina.  “We strive to provide the best experience for our guests, as well as give back to our community, and this award is a testament to our efforts.”

Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay received the Community Service award for its work in ending in food scarcity, providing assistance to local Title I schools in the Chesapeake Bay area, and offering resources to underserved populations. In addition, it has also donated more than 770 hours, $50,385, and has helped 66 nonprofit organizations in the local community.

Throughout 2019, the resort hosted a variety of community oriented events, including the “What’s Your Plate Event”, an extension of the Cooking Matters campaign, which helps to end childhood hunger by inspiring families to make healthy and affordable food choices. It also began its partnership with the Cambridge Salvation Army, where over 2,488 pounds of food were donated. The resort also helps to promote literacy by participating in a local play center’s event that honors Dr. Suess by reading to young children.

Additionally, the resort offered continued resources and support to the community, helping three local individuals with disabilities from the Social Services Youth Program to learn work and life skills. It also hosted a tour and Q&A for morning Star Youth Academy, which is a residential treatment program for young men with substance abuse and trauma. Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay also continues to host job fairs, looking to hire within the community and help keep local residents out of poverty.

In addition to the Community Service Award, Senior Event Planning Manager Kate Hopkins was awarded Sales Person of the Year for her dedication in planning large scale events and weddings at the property. Kate has worked at the resort for nearly 15 years and continues to dedicate her time and talents to ensuring guests are satisfied during the event planning process.
