New Collaboration: "Fu-nancier"
Teaming up with “Hanbey-fu" (a fu maker in Kyoto focusing on the quality of the water and ingredients used and maintaining a traditional taste since its foundation in 1689) and Hyatt Regency Kyoto’s Pastry Chef Maki Nomura have crafted collaborative sweets.

Fu-nancier is a financier, crispy on the outside and soft and springy on the inside; and baked using crushed toasted "fu" and Kyoto white miso. Beautifully wrapped, it makes for a perfect gift for the New Year.

Talented Pastry Chef Maki Nomura has created a delicious assortment of delicacies, sweets and savories for this autumn’s afternoon tea offering. Presented on a beautiful stand made by hand from Kyoto’s very own Miki Bamboo Shop, you can enjoy warm homemade scones and treats from Housendo, best known for their adzuki bean jam in Shimogamo, Kyoto. With over 30 varieties of beverages including TWG tea, Ippodo Japanese tea and aromatic Nespresso coffee, enjoy a relaxing afternoon tea overlooking our beautiful Japanese garden.

This is a recommended winter-limited treatment combining oriental meridians, acupressure and Shiseido Qi's body treatment, which uses a Western approach to the bones and muscles, with a basalt hot stone treatment exuding a warm far-infrared effect. This technique removes chills and swelling as well as alleviates stiff shoulders and lower back pain while adjusting the flow of Qi energy and balancing the autonomic nerves.

Greetings from the new General Manager
As of September 2018, Robert Hamer assumed the position of General Manager of Hyatt Regency Kyoto. Born in Sydney to Austrian and Australian parents, Robert started his career studying hotel management in Salzburg, Austria. Since joining his first Hyatt at Sanctuary Cove on Australia’s Gold Coast in 1988, Robert has worked for Hyatt International for more than 30 years. After opening Hyatt Hotels in Tokyo, Fukuoka and Hakone as well as working on brand revitalization, he has participated in important missions to Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Shanghai before returning to Japan for the first time in ten years.

"Hyatt Regency Kyoto will be my 6th workplace in Japan. I have traveled several times to Kyoto, but to live and work in such a beautiful place, basking in its amazing history and tradition, is such a great honor. I will continue to protect "the heart of genuine hospitality" cherished by Hyatt Regency Kyoto team and will elevate the charm of the hotel to new heights. I look forward to seeing you in the near future."
