Enjoy a cold brew at cafe33 this Summer!

Cold brewed coffee is known for its smooth feeling and suppressed bitterness due to the steeping process not requiring heat. This unique process also brings out a deep rich aroma from the coffee bean.

We serve our cold brew coffee served in a specially ordered ice bowl. In order for you to enjoy your coffee at an ideal temperature.

When it is served you can appreciate the original aroma and flavor of the coffee, however afterwards sweeten your drink with the ice cream provided to make a coffee float. Cool down this summer with a cold brew from cafe33.

Our cold brew coffee beans are blended by Ogawa Coffee, a long-established Kyoto coffee shop. https://www.oc-ogawa.co.jp/?lang=en

Saturday, April 22 is Earth Day!
Join us in reducing food waste and try our Mixed Eco potage at Breakfast!

Earth Day is important for us to remember our roles in protecting the environment. At cafe 33 in order to reduce food waste we created a soup made with extra leftover vegetables that would otherwise go to waste.

Our Mixed Eco potage for breakfast is made by slowly sautéing over ten different types of vegetables to bring out their natural sweetness. This method creates a soup that deliciously combines the flavors of everything that is added.

We at Hyatt Regency Kyoto will take this day to think about and appreciate the global environment and will take this time to act for our planet.

EARTH HOUR 2023

Hyatt Regency Kyoto will participate in EARTH HOUR 2023, a global event organized by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) to raise awareness for protecting the environment. On Saturday, March 25, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, the hotel's rooftop logo sign will be turned off to help reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption.

Touzan Bar on the basement floor will also turn off the lights and be candle lit during this time.  The candle lit bar is an atmospheric sight to behold but is also beneficial to the environment around us. Our bartender designed a special plant-based cocktail called "Aquafaba," he will serve during Earth Hour.

The Aquafaba cocktail is made by adding gin, Aperol, and lemon juice to aquafaba (chickpea juice). Our aquafaba is obtained as a side product from the production of cafe 33’s classic hummus to prevent food waste, creating a stylish cocktail with an awareness of food loss.

Enjoy the smooth, sweet, and refreshing flavor of aquafaba at Touzan Bar.

Aquafaba JPY 1,800

Take the opportunity to think about the future of our planet during Earth Hour 2023 in our candle lit bar.We hope you can take this opportunity to join us in this initiative at your own home too.

■EARTH HOUR information: Earth Hour is one of the world's largest lights-out actions, in which people around the world turn off lights on the same day and at the same time to show their commitment to global warming prevention and environmental conservation. In 2021, a record of 192 countries and regions around the world participated. The event takes place on the last Saturday in March starting at 20:30 pm local time.

Brand-New Oval Shaped Tub for RIRAKU’s Therapeutic Organic Spa

(Fermented Hinoki powder dry bath)

A brand-new tub has been designed for the fermented hinoki dry bath. This new design utilizes the beauty of curves to create a relaxing design (Registration of a design is under application).

For the first time an oval tub has been used over a conventional rectangular tub for the fermented hinoki dry bath. This new design had to be built by ship manufactures who where capable of bending and refining the stainless steel for our tubs. Through trial and error, they created beautiful stainless-steel tubs with graceful curves that sooth the senses.

The fermented hinoki powder bath is a dry bath made using hinoki powder and extracts from other natural ingredients. Submerge yourself in our fluffy hinoki powder mixture that thoroughly warms the depths of your body in our new tub. Enjoy the quality and aroma our hinoki powder that comes straight from trees grown in nearby Yoshino, Nara Prefecture, Japan. This bath only utilizes the power of fermentation to create heat and uses no artificial heat source. Try a new wellness lifestyle of natural environmental circulation that emphasizes the themes of health and environmental friendliness.

The Touzan Afternoon Tea Team

The Touzan Afternoon Tea is carefully arranged by Executive Chef Marco Torre, Executive Pastry Chef Kiyoshi Utsumi and Touzan, Japanese Chef Atsushi Miwa. With more than 40 years of combined experience cooking for Hyatt, together they have created this unique Afternoon Tea experience.

The key artist responsible for incorporating the essence of Japanese cuisine into the Afternoon Tea experience is Atsushi Miwa. His mastery of kaiseki-ryori and perfect attention to every small detail blend harmoniously to create this Japanese Afternoon Tea concept.

Executive Pastry Chef Kiyoshi Utsumi, with his long service at Hyatt and his extensive international experience, has brilliantly infused classic French pastries with delicate Japanese flavors for the occasion.

Marco Torre started working on the idea back in 2018, when he began thinking about the stand design and collaborating with local craftsmen, waiting for the right time to move the concept to Touzan.
