This village, which dates back to the 14th century, is now known as Delhi’s fashion village. The narrow lanes of the urban village are lined with designer fashion boutiques and some wonderful street art.
On Sunday mornings, in Old Delhi this pop up market selling everything from fashion to hardware and electronics. There is a huge variety of stock, some of which is second hand, some surplus and some simply stolen.

Created in 1981 by master tea tasters Sanjay and Naina Kapur, this was Delhi’s first tea gallery and specializes in India’s finest tea. Taste an elegant first flush Darjeeling, the champagne of tea or a robust Assam breakfast blend and don’t miss the superb masala chai mix.
Modelled on a rural haat, or village market, this open-air tourist market run by the government showcases handi-crafts from across the country. Spread over six acres, there are cultural performances, artisan demonstrations and some delicious food stalls.
This famed urban village is a lively entertainment hub, overflowing with restaurants, cafes, bars and live music venues plus some trendy boutiques and galleries. The area dates back to medieval times and there are still monuments remaining, including a large water-tank, mosque, madrassa and a number of tombs.
Built in 1659 by Fatehpuri Begum, one of Shah Jahan’s wives, today this mosque is surrounded by some of Delhi’s busiest wholesale markets, mainly of spices and other foodstuffs, but the courtyard is remarkably tranquil.
As with all Sikh Gurudwaras, the concept of langar is practiced here, and anyone, of any faith, is welcome to enjoy a free meal. Each day, over 10,000 people are fed from the community kitchen located here.
This 138ft high War Memorial Arch is India’s memorial to the Indian soldiers who died in the First Word War and the Second Anglo-Afghan War. Built in 1921, it was modeled on the great arches found in Ancient Rome and the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
Built in 1656 by Shah Jahan, the Friday Mosque is the largest and most impressive mosque in Delhi. Over 5,000 workers took five years to construct the mosque.
The musicians’ music store. Since 1920 this family run store has being making Indian stringed instruments. Their clients include the great Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar, the Beatles as well as young children getting their first ever instruments.
Located within the Sangeet Natak Academy, this musical treasure trove has a collection of over 700 indigenous musical instruments, out of which about 250 are on permanent display. The museum bears testament to India’s rich musical history and is also a hugely important resource to preserve and nurture India’s folk and tribal musical traditions.
