Hyatt Loves Local

Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach is a proud participant of Hyatt Loves Local, a new initiative that enables Hyatt hotels around the world to support local small businesses who have been deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

From chefs and wellness experts to farmers and artists, Clearwater Beach’s small businesses help define the culture of our community.

As a Hyatt Loves Local participant, Hyatt Regency Clearwater has teamed up with Sunsets at Pier 60 to provide working space and resources to help the artists sell their artworks and handcrafted items, while offering our guests and locals unique experiences.

We look forward to welcoming you soon to experience several Sunsets at Pier 60 artists that will be exhibiting their pieces and interacting directly with you right inside our own hotel!

Nov 6: Sarah McClimans - Sea glass and custom jewelry

Sarah has been designing jewelry since 2006. She has traveled around the US selling and creating her jewelry. Now a resident of Florida she has fallen in love with the unique qualities of sea glass. Sarah moved to Clearwater to sell her art when Key West was hit hard with Covid. Pier 60 has offered her a new place to sell her quality custom creations and keeps her close to the beaches she has fallen in love with.

Lifelike portrait drawings done live in about 10 min while the customer waits

Heather Talley - Custom stamped rings while you wait

David and Heather have traveled doing art shows and festivals throughout the country. Both have art degrees and looking for unique ways to create and share art. After visiting Clearwater they decided to move from Virginia to be a part of the Sunsets At Pier 60 Nightly Celebration permanently. They loved the family-friendly atmosphere and the beauty of Clearwater. They have made this their home the last six years and bring joy to countless visitors as they help guests bring a little bit of Clearwater home with them.

Jay has been an artist on Pier 60 for almost 4 years, he drives all the way from Orlando to sell his handmade creations. He takes pride in his knowledge of natural stones and crystals.

Nov:13 Jude Defusco - Seashell Art

Jude has been a staple on Pier 60 for over 20 years. Jude enjoys sending her decorated seashells around the world with guests who visit Pier 60. Sand dollar art is where she got her start, however her love of all things sea shell has evolved into unique shell inspired art. Her magnets and ornaments are the perfect gifts to take home.

Nov:14 Valory Canfield - Caricature Artist

Valory is a nationally known caricature artist and winner of the World's fastest caricature artist competition in 2018. She draws my portraits in less than 3 minutes and focuses on capturing the likeness and spirit of her customers. As a proud military spouse, all veterans are given a free caricature when they stop at her booth. She is self-taught and has been selling her drawings for 15 years in four states. Valory and her Husband Jack are expecting their first child and Jack is just as much a part of the nightly celebration as he helps Valory setup and breakdown each day as they look forward to welcoming their new baby!

Nov:15 Angela Furhman and Tom Patti - Custom Jewelry and Candles

Angela has been a part of Pier 60 for over 20 years. Her custom jewelry collection has grown to include something for everyone. Angela uses quality materials in all of her pieces. Tom joined Angela on the Pier seven years ago and creates gel and soy lotion candles with natural oils and ingredients gentle enough to be used as a lotion. His custom fragrances welcome guests and have become the official scent of Pier 60!

Nov 20: Holly Thompson - Boho Coastal Henna

Organic Lavender Infused Henna Body Art Holly has been creating henna art on Clearwater Beach since 2015. Henna is an all-natural plant-based dye used in many cultures to create temporary tattoo body art. Designs are drawn by hand with a henna paste by the artist. The henna dries within 20 minutes. The dye is removed after a few hrs leaving a tattoo "stain" for 1-3 weeks. Holly’s henna is custom made. It is safe for all ages and skin types. The henna is made with all-natural ingredients including; henna, lemon, lavender, and sugar.

Nov:21 Karel and Kardi Borras - Custom Crab art, miniatures, and name on rice jewelry

Karel and Kardi are a Husband and Wife team who met on Pier 60. Karel has been on the Pier since 2015 where he showcases his custom blue crab art. He has been working on his craft since he was fourteen, he was taught by his father and over the last 22 years has created a unique process that does not include hash chemicals or freeze-drying. The blue crabs are harvested right here in Tampa bay, emptied by hand, and created with an attention to detail that has made his custom artwork a treasure from Clearwater Beach.

Kardi became a Pier 60 artist in 2016, she is a living legacy of her uncle who started creating a custom handwritten name on rice jewelry and accessories at Pier 60 in 2000. When her uncle passed unexpectedly Kardi came to Clearwater to support her family, mastered the art, and continues to create tiny masterpieces as she writes names on a single grain of rice. She balances life as an artist, cares for her extended family, and is attending nursing school.

Nov:22 Guillermo and Julia Nunez - Plaster castings

Wall plaques,statues,magnets,lamps,key holders. Guillermo and Julia create hand-painted custom castings. They create colorful works of art that remind you of the world-class sunsets seen from Pier 60. The tropical colors spread happiness and cheer and are the perfect piece of art to take home to remind you of your escape to Clearwater Beach.

Dec:4 “Debo” David Herb - Custom license plate art

Debo has been an artist most of his life experimenting with different types of art. He has participated in and produced various art shows across the country. As an avid fisherman when he discovered the chance to sell his art on Pier 60 he knew it would be a perfect fit. Using recycled license plates from around the world Debo often finds tourists love the connection between their home state and a gift from Clearwater Beach. Each piece tells a story. Debo makes everything from wall art to key chains and even jewelry. Custom orders are his favorite and he enjoys making each piece unique for his clients.

Dec:5 Sherry Boyle - Custom tumblers and holiday decor

Sherry is one of our hometown heroes and serves as a nurse and surgery tec. Sherry makes beautiful custom tumblers and holiday decor. Sherry uses art as a unique way to utilize her creative side and a nice break from the stresses of being a nurse during COVID-19. Being able to sell her creations at Pier 60 is also another way to have a source of income and protect our natural resources since the tumblers limit the number of single-use plastics being discarded. It is a beautiful and resourceful way to help save the environment. Each unique tumbler is a custom piece of art.

Sonja is an artist from Serbia, her true heart and passion is photography. She captures nature, architecture, and animals in ways that draw you into her photos with her use of balance and natural lighting. Like most artists, she does not limit herself to one medium and has started a successful jewelry line using epoxy resins, micca, and even glow in the dark pieces. Her creations are a favorite of visitors to Pier 60. Sonja and her husband are both in the hospitality industry and deeply affected by the COVID-19 closures.

Dec:18 Emelle Tunceren - Leather Goods

Emelle and Rynn create handmade leather goods with optional on-the-spot custom hand engraving bracelets, wallets, lighter sleeves, phone cases, earrings, and custom-made goods. All hand-sewn and made from genuine leather (with some vegan leather options). Laser engraved leather and wood products with custom options. Wooden phone cases and accessories, wooden stickers, wooden earrings, leather goods all available with custom etching. Emelle grew up on Pier 60, her father was a vendor for many years on the Pier and now his children are following in his footsteps. Her brother is also on the pier and sells abalone jewelry just like his father did for over 20 years.

Dec:19 Patrick and Marriea Peden - Hair braids and hair wraps

A trip to Clearwater beach wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Patrick and Marriea, they have been working together on Pier 60 for years and have guests that return to them year after year on family vacations to get a special unique style. Marriea focuses on the braids while Patrick does the wraps. They have an infectious energy and are staples at Pier 60.
