Environmental Sustainability

Caring for the planet is a natural extension of Hyatt’s purpose—to care for people so they can be their best. Below are specific examples of environmental stewardship at our hotel.

Overview

  • Recognized by the Association of Energy Engineers with an Award in 2018 for our Monitor & Save project, that we continue today.
  • An Andaz London Green Team was created in 2018 with the purpose of leading the sustainability efforts of the hotel, formed by colleagues across all departments.
  • We use Hyatt EcoTrack to track sustainability metrics including greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water, waste, and recycling. These insights are important to help advance efficiency improvements.

Carbon Emissions and Water

Carbon Emissions and Water

  • We operate our building efficiently to reduce emissions and water use. As an example, our vacuum based toilet flush system uses only 2 liters of fluid, compared to 6 liters for a classic toilet.
  • Specifically for meetings and events, we minimize energy use including through temperature controls and offer flexible hybrid solutions to reduce carbon footprint as well as opportunities for carbon offsets through donations toward local climate protection projects.

Waste and Circularity

Exchange Room

Waste and Circularity

  • We work to reduce waste where possible and our Meetings & Food Delivery are single-use plastic free.
  • Plastic straws are not used. Rather, straws made of bamboo are offered upon request.
  • Water served using carafes is the default offering for meetings and events.
  • Menus are only printed at the client’s request and our meeting spaces are supplied with recycled paper pads and pencils, instead of plastic pens.
  • We work closely with suppliers who commit to reducing or completely abandon plastic packaging.

Our Food Philosophy

Hyatt’s Food. Thoughtfully Sourced. Carefully Served. philosophy guides us in how we select ingredients that are better for people, communities and the planet.

  • The pork served in the hotel’s restaurants comes from Dingley Dell, a welfare-friendly pig farm in Suffolk.
  • Our seafood is supplied by the environmentally committed James Knight of Mayfair, working closely with the Marine Conservatory and providing us with certified sustainable seafood.
  • We encourage a plant based diet through our varied vegan and vegetarian options available on our menus.
  • Our expert team of Chefs re-use vegetable and fruit peels to create plant based meals for our guests.
