Xuzhou’s proud history stretches back 2,600 years, and the city is revered as the birthplace of Liu Bang, the first emperor of the Han Dynasty. Located in northwest Jiangsu province, near the borders with Anhui and Shandong provinces, Xuzhou is rich in historical and natural wonders, such as Cloud Dragon Mountain, the Han Dynasty tombs at Turtle and Lion Mountains, the Han Stone Engravings Gallery and Yunlong Lake. 

 

• Cloud Dragon Mountain

This verdant mountain retains deep spiritual significance and dominates a cluster of undulating hills surrounding Xuzhou.

 

• Han Dynasty Tombs

Excavation sites at these ancient tombs built into the sides of Turtle and Lion Mountains unearthed Xuzhou’s very own version of Xi’an’s world-famous Terracotta Warriors.

 

• Han Stone Engravings Gallery 

Houses more than 800 prized stone engravings that individually and collectively tell vivid stories of life during the Han Dynasty in a unique pictorial format.

 

• Mausoleum of Prince of Chu

Part of the Han Culture Theme Park, this large cliff tomb contains rare cultural relics from the Han Dynasty and the Xuzhou Terracotta Army Museum.

 

• Yunlong Lake

Located southwest of the city, this graceful body of water nestles amid the Yunlong mountain range and is surrounded by landmarks of historic and cultural importance.

 

• Xuzhou Museum
