Dawson’s Steakhouse has been honored for the sixth year in a row for its wine program in Wine Spectator Magazine. The restaurant is recognized among other winners from all over the globe as a top destination for wine lovers.
Wine Spectator began its program to recognize the world’s best wine lists in 1981. A total of 2,289 restaurants earned the Award of Excellence this year, which recognizes wine lists which offer at least 90 selections. The list must feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. Whether compact or extensive, focused or diverse, these lists deliver sufficient choice to satisfy discerning wine lovers.

Hyatt Regency Sacramento hotel announced today that it has once again been awarded AAA Four Diamond Status. In addition, Dawson’s Restaurant, located in the Hyatt, has also once again earned the Four Diamond distinction. The awards were announced January 31, 2019.
AAA’s professionally trained inspectors use published guidelines to conduct unannounced hotel and restaurant evaluations, assigning Approved establishments a rating of One to Five AAA Diamonds. Four Diamond hotels account for 5.9 percent of the more than 28,000 AAA Approved and Diamond Rated hotels; Four Diamond restaurants account for 2.1 percent of the nearly 31,000 AAA Approved and Diamond Rated restaurants.
AAA designates Four Diamond Restaurants as those that “provide a distinctive fine-dining experience that is typically expensive. Surroundings are highly refined with upscale enhancements throughout. Highly creative chefs use imaginative presentations to augment fresh, top quality ingredients. A proficient service staff meets or exceeds guest expectations. A wine steward may offer menu-specific knowledge to guide selection”. This is certainly the case with Dawson’s and the Firehouse, the only other restaurant in the Sacramento area to earn the Four Diamond Award.
