AAA’s professionally trained inspectors use published guidelines to conduct unannounced hotel and restaurant evaluations, assigning Approved establishments a rating of One to Five AAA Diamonds. Four Diamond hotels account for 5.9 percent of the more than 28,000 AAA Approved and Diamond Rated hotels; Four Diamond restaurants account for 2.1 percent of the nearly 31,000 AAA Approved and Diamond Rated restaurants.
AAA designates Four Diamond Restaurants as those that “provide a distinctive fine-dining experience that is typically expensive. Surroundings are highly refined with upscale enhancements throughout. Highly creative chefs use imaginative presentations to augment fresh, top quality ingredients. A proficient service staff meets or exceeds guest expectations. A wine steward may offer menu-specific knowledge to guide selection”. This is certainly the case with Dawson’s and the Firehouse, the only other restaurant in the Sacramento area to earn the Four Diamond Award.
