Science + Museums

U.S. Space & Rocket Center

A Smithsonian affiliate, this museum features interactive exhibits like the Mars Climbing Wall, a rocket simulator, and a G-force accelerator. The digital planetarium allows visitors to feel immersed in outer space.

Alabama Constitution Hall Historic Park & Museum

This museum recreates life in the year 1819, when 44 delegates gathered to organize the state now known as Alabama. It features an era-appropriate law office, post office, and print shop, as well as the cabinet shop where the delegates met.

U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum

Dedicated to honoring those in the military service, this museum houses aircraft, jeeps, weapons, uniforms, and assorted memorabilia, some of it dating all the way back to the Revolutionary War.

Nature Parks + Gardens

Monte Sano State Park

Spanning 2,140 acres, this park centers around a pristine mountain and offers 80-plus campsites. Visitors can breathe fresh air on hiking and biking trails, admiring the azaleas that bloom in the spring, or pop into the playground with little ones.

Harmony Park Safari

This kid-friendly ranch invites guests to drive along trails and meet exotic animals, which could include kangaroos, llamas, and emus.

Madison County Nature Trail

Nestled atop Green Mountain, this 72-acre park features a 1.5-mile walking trail and picnic tables. Guests can admire the blooming azaleas and dogwoods in spring or the vibrant tree leaves in fall.

Von Braun Center

This multipurpose event space hosts everything from high school graduation ceremonies to rotary clubs to major musical acts like Earth, Wind & Fire. It’s also the site of athletic events like hockey games, wrestling matches, and basketball games.

University of Alabama in Huntsville

Spanning 505 acres, this campus hosts year-round guided tours for prospective students as well as information sessions with admissions counselors. The fitness center offers some classes open to the public, as well.

Bridge Street Town Centre

This mixed-use space includes 80 stores from popular brands like Apple, Clarks, Old Navy, Sephora, and Great American Cookies. Catch a blockbuster in the 14-screen movie theater or send your little ones on a carousel ride.

Huntsville Museum of Art

Spanning 75,034 square feet and 14 galleries, the museum primarily focuses on American artwork from the 19th and 20th centuries. Its permanent collection includes famous artists like Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, and Dale Chihuly.
