Domestic Partner Benefits
In 2005, Hyatt launched a new program making a full array of benefits available to domestic partners and eligible dependents of
unmarried employees. The new plan takes a more inclusive look at domestic partnerships to recognize dedicated relationships
characterized by such things as sharing the same address, financial interdependence and joint ownership of a home or automobile.
It also injects a new sense of fairness in Hyatt’s approach to compensation. Numerous studies have shown that domestic partner
benefits do not have a significant impact on the overall cost of health care and insurance and can have a positive impact on hiring,
retention and employee morale. Our domestic partner benefits have a positive effect on productivity because they provide a safety
net that enables unmarried employees with domestic partners to focus on their job. In addition, in 1999 Hyatt made modifications
to its Gold Passport program’s terms and conditions to expand the ability to combine points when redeeming an award and to transfer
points in the event of the death of a member to include domestic partners.
