Weddings have a wonderful way of reuniting friends. For the bride, the “shower” is often the most precious of times, a time to truly relax and be spoiled. Traditionally, the shower is planned within six weeks of the wedding. However, etiquette does not dictate this and it is truly at the discretion of the bride and hostess. The question of who throws the shower is often asked and in this instance etiquette does preclude members of the bride’s immediate family. Traditionally, the shower is the responsibility of the maid/matron of honor and the bridesmaids.
