Overview on Berlin sights and attractions
Berlin: Between East and West
The formerly divided city, Berlin, is looking back on an eventful history that can be experienced first-hand in many locations today. Berlin offers interactive history at the famous border crossing point, Checkpoint Charlie, the interactive GDR Museum, the memorial Berlin Wall at the former border and the impressive full-size Asisi-panorama with a look back at the Cold War.
The Ku’damm is considered the most famous boulevard of the city; it is for Berlin what the Champs Elysees is for Paris and La Rambla is for Barcelona. Through its many boutiques and flagship stores of exclusive brands, the 3.5 kilometre-long boulevard is a mecca for shoppers and definitely worth a visit. The luxurious Kaufhaus des Westens “KaDeWe” attracts as Europe’s biggest shopping paradise with its almost unlimited choices. There is something for everyone and something to amaze all.
Charlottenburg Castle is a living testimony to the cultural court history from the Baroque-era until the early 20th century. Marvelous rooms and halls, impressive enfilades, high quality art collections and the unique Baroque gardens that surround the magnificent building should not be missed. Experience this exciting history.
Do you know which building the Brandenburger Tor could fit into? This location was built 2009 and it is known as the O2 World, one of the most modern, multifunctional arenas of the world of sport, entertainment and events. The arena is the venue for international artists like Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift and James Blunt as well as the home ground for our Eisbären Berlin hockey team. Whether you are a sport or music fan, entertainment at the highest level is provided! Our concierge will be happy to assist you with tickets and further information.
Zoological Garden Berlin
The traditional Zoologische Garten is located in the western city of Berlin, differing from other cities. With 1552 species (including the aquatic life), the zoo has one of the greatest number of species in the world and is home to about 14,000 animals. The Berlin Zoo was founded as Germany’s first animal park in 1844 and still counts as one of the most important worldwide. From predators to hippos, the biodiversity is impressive and the three-floor aquarium is absolutely worth visiting.
The Philharmonic has been the musical heart of Berlin for 50 years. Its unusual, tent-like form and its vibrant yellow colour make it one of the city’s landmarks. But the philharmonic is not only convincing in its appearance, but also in its acoustics. Almost all of the orchestras in Berlin, including the Berlin Philharmonic, play in this prestigious concert hall and enchant their music-enthusiast audiences. Do not miss this festival of music and chance to enjoy a wonderful evening at the Philharmonic. Our Concierge will be happy to assist you with tickets and further information.
With its 368-metre height, the Berlin TV tower is the highest building in Germany and the most prominent landmark in Berlin. In good weather conditions, the viewing platform at 203 metres offers up to 40 kilometre views over the capital. One floor above is the Telecafé, which rotates around its own axis every half hour and creates an unforgettable panoramic experience. The “Alex” is located in Fernsehturm and marks the Berlin skyline and is one of Germany’s most visited attractions – for good reason.
Berlin on the Water
Enjoy the incomparable bridges in Berlin as well as unusual shorelines and a beautiful cityscape. Sail on the Spree or Landwehrkanal beside historical and modern buildings, green riversides and urban cityscapes for relaxed sightseeing instead of long walks.
